A strategic joint venture between Energetech (UAE) and Tantel Holdings (Tanzania)to deliver Tanzania’s first modular LNG facility—bringing clean, affordable energy to industries across East and Central Africa.
Energetech Tantel is developing Tanzania’s first modular liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility, located in Mtwara and supplied via the national TPDC pipeline. The facility will produce LNG for local and regional distribution, targeting industrial users currently dependent on diesel. With a modular design, the plant will launch with an initial capacity of 20–30mm scf/day, with rapid scalability to 120mmscf/day as demand grows.
LNG will be distributed via containerized road transport, forming a “virtual pipeline” to off-grid locations across Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, the DRC, and beyond—offering cleaner, more affordable energy where it’s needed most. The project supports Tanzania’s ambition to become a regional energy hub and reflects a shared commitment to accelerating energy access, reducing emissions, and supporting industrial growth across East and Central Africa.
Headquartered in Dubai and founded by former Vitol executive Alistair Naiken, Energetech is an energy trading and infrastructure firm with operations across emerging markets, active in LNG, power, refined products, and transition fuels. Energetech’s model blends global market insight with operational agility—bridging the gap between energy supply and infrastructure where it’s needed most.
